How to open convenience store hand-rolled sushi

Have you ever had hand-rolled sushi?

There are different types of sushi, including nigirizushi, makizushi, chirashizushi, and many others.

Among them, I will introduce how to eat “hand-rolled sushi”, which can be easily purchased at convenience stores!

Pull down the part printed with “open”

First, check the back side of your hand roll.

If you do, you will probably discover “OPEN”.

Slowly pull that “OPEN” toward the underside of the sushi roll.

Remove the film wrapped around the rice

When you have finished pulling “OPEN”, there’s rice under the film.

Remove the top and bottom films protecting the rice.

Be careful not to drop the ingredients of the rice ball as they may overflow outside.
(Especially natto (fermented soybeans), etc.)

Pull rice and toasted seaweed to the side

Once the rice is on top of the toasted seaweed, it is ours!

Grab the rice and toasted seaweed and pull to the side to remove the last film.

If you grab the toasted seaweed on both sides, the toasted seaweed will tear.

Therefore, grab only the film (as shown on the left in the image).

Wrap rice in toasted seaweed

Finally, arrange the rice to be wrapped with the extra toasted seaweed and you are done.

Now you are already a hand-rolled sushi master!

Hand-rolled sushi from Japanese convenience stores is also reasonably priced and quite tasty.

I hope you will enjoy hand-rolled sushi as your travel companion on your next trip.
